How to Import Reviews from Shop App to Shopify (3 Methods That Work)

How to Import Reviews from Shop App to Shopify (3 Methods That Work)

If buyers already rate your products inside Shop, those comments can sit on shop.app while your online store still looks empty. You can import reviews from Shop App to Shopify so star ratings and photos show on your product pages, not only inside the consumer app. The three practical paths are a shop.app product URL paste, a Shop partner syndication sync, and a CSV move when you switch review apps.

Shop is Shopify's shopper destination on the web and in the mobile app. Shopify describes shop.app as the online home of Shop, alongside the iOS and Android apps. Reviews left there help discovery inside Shop, but they do not automatically appear on your online storefront unless you import or syndicate them. This guide is Shop App only. For a wider marketplace map, see our roundup on importing reviews from Amazon, AliExpress, and more. The steps follow the same one-job pattern as our CJdropshipping review import walkthrough and Wish review import walkthrough.

Why Should You Import Shop App Reviews to Your Shopify Storefront?

Importing Shop App reviews puts day-one social proof on the product pages shoppers hit from ads, email, and Google, not only inside Shop. Northwestern's Spiegel Research Center found that products with five reviews have a 270% greater purchase likelihood than products with none.

The same Spiegel work reported conversion lifts of about 190% for lower-priced products and 380% for higher-priced ones when reviews were displayed, with purchase likelihood peaking between 4.0 and 4.7 stars. Shoppers who bounce from a blank online store to a shop.app listing with ratings will notice the gap.

Bazaarvoice also reports that 10 product reviews can lift conversion by 45%, that 88% of shoppers consult ratings and reviews before a purchase, and that 60% of shoppers would rather buy a product with 10 reviews that include user images than 200 text-only reviews. You do not need every Shop comment on day one. You need authentic ratings and photos on the SKUs that drive revenue.

Many merchants treat Shop as a second storefront, not a side project. Ratings that only live in Shop leave your .myshopify.com theme under-proven. Importing closes that split so paid traffic and email launches land on pages that already look trusted.

Can You Export Shop App Reviews Natively From Shopify?

Shopify does not give merchants a simple "Download Shop reviews CSV" button for bulk export into any review app. Shop reviews are managed in the Shop channel, and Shopify's help center focuses on collecting, moderating, and syncing reviews with partner apps rather than a universal file download.

That means you usually need either a marketplace-style URL importer that reads public shop.app product pages, or a Shop-approved review partner that syndicates reviews both ways. Leaving Shop reviews only in the app is the default. Moving them onto your theme is an intentional step.

Hot take: Most 2026 Shop App review posts only teach how to push ratings into Shop. The quieter win is the reverse. shop.app product pages are public, and a URL paste can seed your online store without waiting on a partner syndication deal.

Which Shopify Apps Help You Import or Sync Shop App Reviews?

Two different jobs get mixed up in App Store copy. One job is importing public reviews from a shop.app product URL into storefront widgets. The other is ongoing two-way syndication between Shop and a partner review platform.

WiseReviews lists Shop App among supported sources (AliExpress, Amazon, CJdropshipping, eBay, Etsy, HKTVMall, Lazada, Shein, Shop App, Shopee, Temu, Tokopedia, Wish). As of September 2026, Free is $0 for up to 100 published reviews held at a time, plus a lifetime 300 marketplace URL and Chrome extension import allowance (deletes do not refund that 300). Standard is $9.95/month for up to 50,000 reviews with auto-sync, and Plus is $19.95/month for unlimited reviews plus bulk multi-URL import. The listing sits at 4.8 stars from 167 reviews. For Shop App, use the standard product URL import with a shop.app link. You do not need the Chrome extension. Amazon, Shopee, Shein, and Temu still do.

Partner apps such as Klaviyo Reviews, Yotpo, REVIEWS.io, and Fera document Shop syndication so Shop-collected reviews can appear in their widgets, and eligible partner-collected reviews can appear in Shop. Klaviyo notes that without syndication, reviews left in Shop only appear in the app, and that sync can take up to 24 hours. REVIEWS.io likewise states that Shop App reviews do not automatically appear on your Shopify store.

Pick by job. Use a URL importer when you need a one-time seed from public shop.app pages. Use a Shop partner when you want continuous two-way sync and Verified by Shop badges. Confirm Shop App or Shop syndication on the live listing before you pay.

How Do You Import Reviews from Shop App to Shopify With a shop.app URL?

Paste the shop.app product URL into a review app that supports Shop App, map it to your Shopify product, set filters, and import. This is the primary method when the product page is public and already shows ratings.

With WiseReviews, the flow follows the importing-reviews docs:

  1. Install WiseReviews from the Shopify App Store and open Reviews, then Import reviews.
  2. Choose Product reviews, then Pick a product and select the matching Shopify product.
  3. Paste the Shop App product link into Product URL. It looks like https://shop.app/products/123456/product-name. Validation can take up to 60 seconds.
  4. Set filters (all ratings or a star filter), how many reviews to pull, and how reviewer names should display. Photos and any public merchant reply come along with the review.
  5. Confirm you have permission to use the reviews, then click Import and wait for the progress bar to finish.

You do not need the Chrome extension for Shop App. If you see "Shop app couldn't find reviews for this product," check that the URL is a shop.app product page with a numeric product ID in the path, not a storefront or Shopify admin link. If you see "We couldn't reach Shop right now," wait a few minutes and try again.

On WiseReviews Free you can hold up to 100 published reviews at a time, and marketplace URL plus Chrome extension imports share a lifetime 300 allowance that deletes do not refund. That is enough to seed top sellers. Standard adds auto-sync up to 50,000 reviews. Plus removes the review cap and adds bulk multi-URL workflows (use Shop App as the source column). CSV uploads do not spend the lifetime 300 allowance; they still count toward the hold limit.

Work product by product for the first session. Import your top sellers, publish, check the theme widgets, then continue. Rushing fifty SKUs before you verify placement is how stores map reviews to the wrong handles.

How Do You Sync Shop App Reviews With a Partner Review App?

Enable Shop syndication inside a Shopify review partner that Shopify supports for Shop, then let Shop-collected reviews flow into that app's widgets on your online store. This is the best ongoing method when customers keep leaving reviews inside Shop after purchase.

A typical Klaviyo-style path (confirm the live UI in your account):

  1. Open your review app's Reviews settings and find Syndication or Shop.
  2. Toggle Shop syndication on and approve any extra Shopify data access if prompted.
  3. Wait for the sync to leave Pending. New Shop reviews can take up to 24 hours to appear in the partner app.
  4. Confirm widgets show Shop reviews (often with a Verified by Shop badge) on the product page.

Partner sync limitations matter. Klaviyo documents that Shop reviews cannot be moderated or deleted inside Klaviyo, that replies happen in Shopify, and that only star ratings, body text, and headlines sync from Shop. Anonymous reviews and many CSV-imported reviews usually will not sync back into Shop. Treat syndication as a channel bridge, not a full moderation suite.

Use this method when you already run Yotpo, Klaviyo, REVIEWS.io, or Fera and want Shop and your storefront to stay aligned. Use URL import when you need a fast seed and do not want to change your whole review stack. Amazon sellers comparing marketplace vs Shop paths can also read our Amazon review import walkthrough.

How Do You Move Shop Reviews With CSV When Switching Review Apps?

Export from your current review app, map Shopify product handles, then upload into the destination app's CSV importer. This is method three for merchants leaving Judge.me, Loox, Stamped, or another app, not a native Shop download.

Practical CSV workflow:

  1. In the old review app, export product reviews as CSV (include rating, body, reviewer name, date, and product handle or ID).
  2. Open the destination app's template. Match columns carefully. Wrong handles are the most common silent failure.
  3. Upload in batches (many apps cap around a few thousand rows per file). Spot-check one product page before publishing everything.
  4. Hide reviews that only praise Shop-specific UI if they confuse online-store shoppers, but do not rewrite ratings or text.

In WiseReviews, CSV import lives under Reviews, then More actions, then Import via CSV. Required fields include product handle, rating, review date, and reviewer name. Keep each file at or under 3,000 rows when the docs ask for that limit. CSV counts toward the hold limit but does not spend Free's lifetime 300 marketplace and extension allowance.

CSV is the right path when you need curation, translations, or an audit trail. It is the wrong first bet if your reviews still only live in Shop and you have never exported them from a partner app. In that case, start with the shop.app URL import or turn on syndication.

What Should You Do After You Import Shop App Reviews to Shopify?

Imported reviews only help if shoppers can see them, trust them, and keep adding new ones after launch. Treat the import as day-one seed data, not the whole review strategy.

Do these post-import checks:

  • Widget placement: put star summaries near the price and the full review block high enough on mobile that shoppers do not miss it.
  • Photo priority: keep Shop photos near the buy box when the source includes media. Our photo vs text reviews breakdown explains why visual proof wins for discovery products.
  • Channel leftovers: hide reviews that only talk about Shop Cash, in-app tracking, or Shop UI quirks that do not exist on your theme.
  • Moderation: keep ratings honest. Do not delete every critical review. Shoppers distrust perfect 5.0 averages, and Spiegel's peak band sits between 4.0 and 4.7 stars.
  • Request emails: turn on post-purchase review request emails so imported Shop ratings are not your only source of truth.

Start with your top ten revenue SKUs, not the entire long tail. Once those pages convert, expand in weekly batches so moderation stays manageable. If you want the conversion case in more depth, read how product reviews increase Shopify conversion rates.

Measure the import like any other conversion change: compare add-to-cart and purchase rate on seeded products against unreviewed control SKUs for two weeks. If the lift is weak, fix widget placement and photo coverage before you buy a higher plan for bulk sync.

What Legal and Ethical Rules Apply to Shop App Review Imports?

Import only reviews written about products you sell, keep the text and ratings unedited, and attribute reviewers honestly. Treat Shop reviews as customer words you are republishing on your storefront, not as marketing copy you own by default.

Practical rules that keep you out of trouble:

  • Import reviews for your own products, not competitor shop.app listings you do not sell.
  • Do not rewrite negative reviews or inflate star ratings.
  • Do not invent "Verified buyer" or "Verified by Shop" badges for imported marketplace-style pulls unless your app and Shopify's Shop rules support that claim for that review.
  • Remove a review quickly if the original reviewer asks.
  • Follow your review app's permission checkbox and Shopify's Shop review guidelines for your market.

The FTC Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule (in effect since October 21, 2024) targets fake, bought, and misleading reviews. Do not present imported Shop reviews as if they were written on your online store if your badges imply that. If you sell in the EU or handle regulated categories, talk to counsel before high-volume automation.

One sequencing tip: import reviews after products exist on Shopify, not before. Review apps need a real product handle or product picker target. Finish titles, images, and handles first, then run the review import so you do not remap everything twice.

Bottom line: Shop will not push every shop.app rating onto your theme for you. Use a shop.app product URL on a capable review app, enable partner syndication for ongoing two-way sync, or move reviews by CSV when you switch apps. Seed your bestsellers, keep the text honest, then collect new online-store reviews so the store does not depend on Shop forever.
